I remember clearly how this game awed me back then in the arcades. The absurd size of the sprites, the exciting battle music and the loud voice samples made it a winner for me! But I thought it was so damn hard! Maybe I just sucked anyway.

I have the Powkiddy Q80 and it has always worked very well with the Rogue, I tried to install Adam using two kernels from Pocketgo2v2 and rg350 but it doesn't work, it keeps infinite looping on the system loading screen Have you already managed to use the Adam firmware on the Powkiddy Q80? I soon realised that this game is based off of The Monkey King. Weird, I heard about the game before, but wasn't aware of that detail for whatever reason.

Who would've thought the Amiga would get the best home port of an arcade game!

Jaguar XJ220 was a featured car in Need for Speed II. That's how I heard about it.

There was also the 3DS version, which is the arcade version but with stereoscopic 3D. As well as the Switch version, which is part of the Arcade Archive series of ports. The 3DS version is sadly no longer available, but the Arcade Archive version is highly recommended if you want to play it on modern hardware.

The speakers sounded ok to me for a tablet. If a listener wants better sound then why not use a decent pair of earbuds? Those nearby would probably prefer that. Or use Bluetooth speakers if sounds are to be shared. Those are my options. As for cameras, I wish tablets only had a front camera just for video calls. Tablet rear cameras are all useless and not worth having so I ignore them but would rather not have to pay for them.

The MD version would have been nearly arcade perfect if they had waited a couple of years to put it on an 8 MBit cart

Yeah, the FM Towns is one hell of a machine. It was quite ahead of the PCs of the time and just as good as the X68000 and the Amigas of the day. The FM Towns was futuristic even by 1989 and 1990s standards. The FM Towns Marty is also like the original Xbox's spiritual predecessor alongside the Dreamcast. It was leagues ahead of the SNES and on par with the Neo Geo.

Its a shame with that Mega Drive port because it looks amazing

what happened to the c64 us gold version form 1985 it has all 4 stages and looks much better than the sega 1983 version you showed here.

Emulating retro consoles on PC and a true gaming PC is different. 4 core 4 thread CPU with ok built in graphics card can emulate alot, But 6 core or above and depending on your resolution needs ....a 3060 or 6600 is perfect for 1080p/1440p.

From Jaguar to SHAG-uar, the Sega CD version's such a big, sexy leap in quality

I played this game on my old school HP PC, then Gateway w/CD-ROM. It's been years since I have played this game. I only wish there was a 3D version for todays platforms. I would love to have this on Xbox One/X/S. I love the rabbit and vixen characters.

I love learning about the history of development and sound effects/foley in video games. For example, you don't have to tell me the team, or at least the composer, that worked on this game must have done work on Earth Defense Force (arcade/SNES) because the sound effect when exploding an enemy is the exact same. Similar to how COMPILE shooters use similar sound effects.

I always enjoyed the name of this game. That's pretty much the only good thing about it.

Micronet did well with Junction and Raiden Trad (though that could've been even better if another dev did it). Heavy Nova is surely not their best effort.

I remember having a blast playing the first Contra on my friend’s Nintendo, so I was excited when my parents bought me Super Contra for the Amiga on my birthday. I know I tried playing it for a while, but eventually stopped, and never looked at it again. Your video reminded me why, lol!

The only reason why I like this game's soundtrack is the sampled use of the roland R8 snare. or is it from the sound canvas?

It's a £112.99 here in the UK but jumps up to £135.59 when VAT gets added at checkout. There are a variety of discount codes but all of them give the error "This code isn't quite valid yet. Try again later." One of the codes is for £15 off that that will lower the price, if it ever works, to £120.59 at least. Still a decent price but I suspect those codes are never going to work.

Fm towns is the best port. No continues. The quasi-continues are generated by capturing a suspect . The game then gives you an entire 65 seconds to fetch the next suspect and so on until you fail.

I had this for the CPC and quite enjoyed it. In the end I worked out you could beat it just by standing at the top right hand corner and shooting diagonally towards the centre of the map 😀

Yeah man the only redeeming quality of this game is the music and it's such a waste being locked behind a terrible game. This is definitely another I didn't know originally got it's start on the X68k which is neat trivia. 😎

Nice! I picked this up a few years ago for a Mega CD I'd found for sale cheap together with a mk1 Mega Drive. Only none of them ever worked, although it might have just been my TV refusing to sync. It's great to see more X68000 games -- there seems to be an absolute goldmine among them, and same for the PC-98 and FM Towns.

I have a soft spot for this game. Believe it or not, the gameplay is actually pretty consistent. Which move you get to do depends on 1) how much energy you have, 2) which button you press, and 3) your distance to the enemy. If you crouch or fly, you're safe from taking damage, but you don't regain energy. If you stand or walk, you gradually regain energy, but you're vulnerable to being attacked. You can also rapidly hit the punch and kick buttons back and forth to get energy back faster, but how fast will depend on how much health you have. Yeah, the platforming sections suck balls, but thankfully, you can turn them off in the options (it's like the devs knew). You can also turn off the back step in the options, so that you're character will turn around right away instead. The thing is, once you get the hang of its quirky fighting system, you can reliably do moves and be able to fight back better. And lets not forget the rather nice animation (your character actually looks like they walk, planting a foot on the ground, versus the old "slide" movement so many games used at the time). There's also a lot of moves at your disposal, and the music is fantastic (the cartridge version's music is better IMO). It would have been nice if there were more than four robots to choose from, but this was pre-Street Fighter 2, so fighting games weren't known for having much of a roster. I wrote a review for this game on SEGA-16, and caught a lot of flack for giving it a 5 out of 10. But I still stand by that 5, damn it😆

There were a number of fighting games in the early 90s that did the "knock the player down for an inordinately long time" thing. You could always tell who didn't have an intuitive grasp of what type of elements ruined the player's connection to a game.

Don't tell me Earnest Evans was also on the X68000...

Remeber importing this on the mega cd on release and being upset mmm.
